Designing prosthetics

Student Success

Jordan Nelson has turned her lifelong love for drawing into a tool that improves the lives of others. The Herron School of Design student digitally designs prosthetics for patients using her tablet and stylus. A summer-school informatics and computing class she took with School of Dentistry maxillofacial prosthodontics resident Dr. Travis Bellicch led her to design more than a dozen facial prosthetic over the last few years.

Nevertheless, she persisted

Campus Success

The IUPUI Office for Women and the Division of Student Affairs held its 21st Annual Women’s History Month Leadership Awards reception last week and honored eighteen faculty, staff, and students who identify as women for their outstanding leadership on campus. This year’s theme was, “Nevertheless She Persisted: Honoring Women Who Fight All Forms of Discrimination Against Women.” The program concluded the month-long celebration of National Women’s History month.

IU is everywhere

Faculty Success

Shariq Siddiqui inherited a family legacy of giving back, but when he graduated from the University of Indianapolis, he didn’t want to wait until he had excess funds to get involved with giving. Now with a master’s and Ph.D. in philanthropic studies and a law degree, the assistant professor and visiting director of IUPUI’s Muslim Philanthropy Initiative has been traveling throughout the Middle East to help others make careers out of giving back.
