Lake Lecture Addresses Faith and the Use of Possessions

INDIANAPOLIS – The Lake Family Institute on Faith & Giving, a program of the School of Liberal Arts' Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University, will present the Third Annual Thomas H. Lake Lecture on Thursday, April 6, 2006, at the University Place Conference Center and Hotel.

Luke Timothy Johnson, professor of New Testament and Christian origins at Candler School of Theology, Emory University, will present “The Life of Faith and the Faithful Use of Possessions,” as the keynote address.

A reception will be held at 4:30 p.m., followed by the lecture at 5:30 p.m. at University Place, located on the Indiana University-Purdue University Purdue, at 900 West Michigan St. The lecture is free and open to the public.

Register by March 31 online at www.philanthropy.iupui.edu/Lake_RSVP.html.

The annual lecture is named after Thomas Lake, a man of profound religious faith and a man dedicated to knowledge, understanding, and the power of faith and giving to bring about real change in communities. Through events such as the Lake Lecture, the Lake Family Institute engages the community in thoughtful discussions about philanthropy and religion.
