Power Vocabulary Workshop Offered By IUPUIINDIANAPOLIS – Do you want to sound smarter without spending a great deal of time or money? Don Woodruff, director of the Professional Vocabulary Institute, will present “Power Vocabulary for Professional Advancement” through IUPUI’s workforce development program. The course, open to the general public, will meet from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday (March 18) at the Glendale Campus, located on the lower level of the Glendale Mall, 6101 N. Keystone Ave. “In general, vocabulary programs can be tedious and boring,” says Woodruff. “This three-hour course shortcuts the laborious process, by offering an understanding of how complex words are formed and presenting a series of ‘power words’ people can use immediately to enrich their lives.” Woodruff, who also teaches accelerated learning workshops, uses “accelerated word-infusion techniques” to get students to rapidly integrate vocabulary terms. “You simplify the word by examining its origin, then connect it into the part of the brain that never forgets by constructing sentence examples that reflect actual life experiences,” Woodruff says. “Once you understand how college-level words are formed and know how to quickly memorize new terms, you’re on your way to having the poise and confidence that comes with an impressive vocabulary.” The cost for the seminar is $99.
