[UPDATED] Local Government Reform Commission Launches Website
InsideINdianaBusiness.com Report, August 3, 2007 – A new website will give the public and policymakers an opportunity to review the work of the Local Government Reform Commission. It also provides a way for the public and organizations to submit comments to the commission. The commission was announced last month by Governor Mitch Daniels to develop recommendations on how local government can increase the efficiency and effectiveness of its operations. The commission is chaired by former Indiana Governor Joe Kernan and State Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall Shepard.

Healthy Families Indiana Day at Zoo to Bring Smiles, Help Strengthen Families

IUPUI Students Complete Prison Exchange Program
WISHTV, News 8 @ 5, August 1, 2007 – For six weeks some IUPUI students drove to Plainfield, went through metal detectors and a pat-down and then shared a classroom with prisoners. The students were taking part in an Inside-Out Prison Exchange program.

Biracial Sisterhood Laid Groundwork for Civil Rights Movement
IUPUI News Center, July 30, 2007 – A new book by Professor Nancy Marie Robertson of the School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI explores how the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA), the nation's major national biracial women's organization, provided a unique venue for women to respond to American race relations during the first half of the twentieth century and laid the groundwork for the subsequent civil rights movement.

IUPUI Center Selected To Assist Commission on Local Government Reform
IUPUI News Center, July 19, 2007 - When Governor Mitch Daniels decided to create a commission to examine and make recommendations on reforming and restructuring local government, he determined he needed two distinguished Hoosiers to co-chair it and a group of experts to host and staff the commission. Daniels announced Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Randall T. Shepard and former Governor Joe Kernan would co-chair the Blue-Ribbon Commission on Local Government Reform and it would operate under the auspices of the Center on Urban Policy and the Environment at IUPUI.
