WFYI, PBS “The Next Indiana Research,” May 14 – Panelist identifies IUPUI as one of the state’s “key strengths” in terms of assets making up the research base that can benefit the state’s development.

IUPUI Most Outstanding Female Student
CBS, Wish-TV News 8, May 12 – Six years ago, Sarah Goss-Robertson didn’t know if a cap and gown were in her future. The May 2006 IUPUI graduate was spotlighted in this broadcast segment which was repeated on May 14.

Water Firm’s $200,000 Gift Aids IUPUI Science Program
Indianapolis Star, May 9 – Veolia Water Indianapolis is giving IUPUI $200,000 to encourage students to pursue degrees in science and engineering. The money will support an existing program, “Discovering the Science of the Environment.” The Lilly Foundation, Inc. also supports the program.

IUPUI Grads Get Online Oscar
Indianapolis Star, May 6 – IUPUI grads Zachary Shields of Greenfield and Christopher Podell of South Bend are People’s Voice Award winners of the Webby Awards which the New York Times called the equivalent of an online Oscar. The School of Informatics students were nominated for their video on the aftermath of the Tsunami tragedy in Indonesia.

nanotechwire.com, April 26 – Nanotechwire.com reports, “Citing a need for an inexpensive method to synthesize quantum dots, researchers at Indiana University-Purdue University in Indianapolis have developed a way to make these highly fluorescent semiconductor nanoparticles that virtually any laboratory can duplicate to create its own quantum dots.”

Skits Reveal Bullying Truth
