IU presidential inauguration set for Oct. 18

In a ceremony that marks a seminal event in the life of a university, Michael A. McRobbie will be inaugurated as the 18th president of Indiana University on Oct. 18 at 3 p.m. in the IU Auditorium on the Bloomington campus. The inauguration and a reception immediately following the ceremony are open to the public.

Celebrating Excellence at IUPUI

October 13-21 will be "Celebrate IU" week, an opportunity to recognize and celebrate all of Indiana University's campuses and their multitude of prestigious and award-winning programs. A highlight of the week will be the inauguration of Michael A. McRobbie as the 18th President of Indiana University on Thursday, Oct. 18.

Events taking place on the IUPUI campus during the week include the "Higher Education: A Change Agent in International Development" symposium at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14 at University Place Conference Center. A webcast of the event will be posted at http://international.iupui.edu/IntlSymp.asx.

Kelley School's Business Outlook Panel to provide economic forecast for 2008

A meltdown in the housing and mortgage markets has shaken Wall Street and small investors alike. Record heating prices are expected this winter. Consumer confidence is at a two-year low. Top retailers are revising their sales estimates. Questions persist about a recession.

IUPUI Saves $35,000 under IPL Emergency Program

This summer IUPUI saved more than $35,000 under the Indianapolis Power & Light (IPL) Rider 15 Load Displacement energy management program. The program credits IUPUI for electricity produced by emergency diesel generators on campus.

Academic Policies, Procedures & Documentation Takes on New Role, New Name

Beginning October 15, the office of Academic Policies, Procedures and Documentation will take on a new name. APPD will become Faculty Appointments and Advancement (FAA) within the Office of Academic Affairs.

In addition to handling the current roles and responsibilities of its predecessor, FAA will collaborate more fully and intentionally with faculty governance, chairs and deans to enrich faculty life at IUPUI.
