'Scrimmage at Notre Dame' by John Groth
Sport Art: John Groth’s 1946 watercolor, “Scrimmage at Notre Dame,” illustrates some of the themes that make sport art – action, heroes (Frank Leahy, who coached Notre Dame to 107 victories, is in the tower) and memories. Part of the permanent collection of the National Art Museum of Sport, this painting is included in the Museum’s new exhibit, “What Makes Sport Art, Sport Art.” The exhibit at the museum, located at University Place Hotel and Conference Center, will run through Dec. 15, 2007.
