IU Doctor Sets Out to Kiss Pig to Support Diabetes Research

Dr. Juan Sanchez (top) has his eyes set on kissing a pig (second photo) as the winner of the American Diabetes Association’s 13th Annual Kiss-A-Pig fund-raiser. |
|
In an effort to raise funds for the American Diabetes Association, an Indiana University School of Medicine physician has set his eyes on kissing a pig—man’s first source of insulin.
Dr. Juan Sanchez, assistant professor of clinical pediatrics at the IU School of Medicine, has entered the American Diabetes Association’s 13th Annual Kiss-A-Pig contest.
To pay homage to the pig for its role in the fight against diabetes, local participants will compete against each other to see who can raise the most funds for diabetes research. The person who raises the most will be given the honor of smooching a real pig at the Indiana Pacers/Utah Jazz game, March 16.
Each vote is just $1.
To vote for Dr. Sanchez, faculty and staff may request a ballot by e-mailing Pat Laskowski at plaskows@iupui.edu. Tax-deductible donations made to the American Diabetes Association may also exceed the $1 minimum. The deadline for casting a vote is Friday, March 11.
For additional information, call (317) 278-6689.
