Student Engineers Compete In Basic Utility Vehicle Competition
The Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI will enter three teams in the third annual Basic Utility Vehicle (BUV) Design Competition 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, May 10 in Zionsville, Ind. The national competition, sponsored by the Institute for Affordable Transportation (IAT), provides engineering students an opportunity to build and test their utility vehicle in rough terrain, all for the sake of producing vehicle designs that may be economical and reliable for rural areas of developing countries.

As a direct result of the Campaign for IUPUI, the School of Liberal Arts has been able to award its first endowed chair, The Barbara E. and Karl R. Zimmer Faculty Chair in Intercultural Communication to the internationally acclaimed scholar who founded the center, English Professor Ulla M. Connor. Likewise, the Kelly School of Business- Indianapolis, was able to recruit Phillip L. Cochran, a noted scholar, to fill the new Thomas W. Binford Chair in Corporate Citizenship.
