HUNDREDS OF IUPUI EMPLOYEES PARTICIPATE IN RACE FOR THE CURE
IUPUI again took home the award for largest school, college or university at April 20's Race for the Cure with more than 800 participants, 22 of whom were breast cancer survivors. Overall, more than 29,000 people turned out for the annual event to support breast cancer research.

HERRON OPENS EXHIBIT HIGHLIGHTING SENIOR WORK
Herron School of Art opened its annual Senior Show on Wednesday. The show features the work of graduating seniors from all departments. The exhibit runs through May 12 at Herron Gallery, 1701 N. Pennsylvania St. Call the gallery at (317) 920-2420 for hours and further information.

COLLABORATIVE EXHIBIT FEATURES STUDENT PHOTOS AND DRAWINGS OF PLANTS
Photos and drawings of the tropical plant collection at the Garfield Park Conservatory by Herron and Lincoln Middle School students are the focus of a new exhibit at the conservatory, located at 2505 Conservatory Drive The show is open through Tuesday, Apr. 30. IU RANKS FIRST NATIONALLY IN PRIVATE SUPPORT
Indiana University has rocketed to the top of the charts, becoming the No. 1 public university in the nation in the amount of support it receives from the private sector. The ranking, compiled annually by the Council for Aid to Education, compares 2001 fiscal year results for 960 colleges and universities in the United States.

14,469 TO RECEIVE IU DEGREES AT EIGHT COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES
A total of 14,469 degrees will be conferred by Indiana University next month during commencement ceremonies on its eight campuses. An additional 1,688 degrees from Purdue University will be awarded on the six campuses where Purdue also offers courses.

PROFESSOR AT IUPUI DEVELOPS VIDEO GAME TO HELP GIRLS RESIST SMOKING
Can Wendy Nevercoff save her friend Cindy from the evils of Joe Tobacco and Nicotinia before it's too late?
That's the goal of a new video game "Escape from Nicotinia!" under development at the School of Nursing. Nursing Professor Anna McDaniel created the game to help stop young girls from smoking.

HONORS PROGRAM RECOGNIZES GRADUATES
The IUPUI Honors program recently paid tribute to its 13 graduates, the largest group ever, at the First Annual Honors Program Graduation Dinner at the University Place Hotel. Students and their guests enjoyed dinner after receiving Honors Program graduation medallions. Professor E. Theodore Mullen, director of honors, also presented graduates with a plaque in recognition of their Honors notation.
Each year, more students are showing interest in actively pursuing the Honors Program notation. Since 1981 the Honors Program has had more than 65 students graduate with the notation.
