Students in Elizabeth Kryder-Reid’s Museum Methods class created this display highlighting the 2002-03 Jaguars championship season. The display is on exhibit at the NCAA Hall of Champions through April 23.

NCAA Exhibit Captures IUPUI Cinderella Season
It was a Cinderella season as the IUPUI men’s Jaguars team made it to the NCAA basketball tournament a year ago. While the Jaguars, a No. 16-seed, lost to the Kentucky Wildcats in first-round action, their tourney appearance garnered a wellspring of national and international media coverage.

IUPUI freshman Creighton Goebel is shown wearing her Indy 500 Festival tiara and sash. Creighton was chosen from more than 100 contestants to become an Indy 500 Festival Princess. In addition to attending various events, she will also compete to become Indy 500 Queen at the Mayor’s Breakfast on May 22.

Indy 500 Princess on Fast Track to Success
Between working as a volunteer, cheerleading, taking a full load of classes, and being an active member of IUPUI’s chapter of the Phi Mu sorority, IUPUI freshman Creighton Goebel found the time to enter the Indianapolis 500 Festival Princess Program. After a tough interviewing process, Goebel was chosen to be a princess.

IUPUI, Indianapolis to Host National Collegiate Research Conference
Some of the nation’s “best and brightest” undergraduate research students will convene in Indianapolis this week as IUPUI and the city host the 2004 National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR).

IUPUI Chancellor Charles R. Bantz (right) presents the first Chancellor’s Faculty Award for Excellence in Civic Engagement to SPEA Associate Dean Greg Lindsey. The award recognizes Lindsey for his sustained commitment to community development through effective campus-community partnerships. Lindsey, the Janet Duey-Murphy Professor of Rural Land Policy, received the award during the 10th Anniversary Celebration for the Center for Service and Learning held April 13 at the White River Gardens.
