IUPUI Newsmakers Today's edition of Court TV's "Hollywood At Large" features IU School of Law-Indianapolis 1988 graduate Helen Lucaitis (seated, left) interviewing Mark Roesler, also a graduate of the law school on the IUPUI campus. Roesler, class of 1982, is president/CEO and founder of CMG Worldwide. With offices in Indianapolis, Los Angeles and Rio de Janeiro, CMG is a marketing and talent agency that handles the merchandising and endorsement rights to the names and likenesses of about 200 famous people, including Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Buddy Holly, Wes Montgomery, Jesse Owens, Al Joyner, Bill Elliott, Babe Ruth and Vince Lombardi.

In her interview from Roesler's West Hollywood office, Lucaitis, a prominent reporter for Court TV, talks to Roesler about how scandals affect the value of a celebrity's name. The show will air locally at 6 p.m., Friday (April 11) on Channel 54 (Time Warner). Lucaitis, who has worked as a reporter and anchor for Court TV for six years, also covered the Robert Blake preliminary hearing in Los Angeles for her network.

Campus Celebration to Honor Jerry and Jean Bepko
The IUPUI family will pay special tribute to former Chancellor Jerry Bepko and his wife, Jean, during an on-campus celebration Wednesday, April 23.
"The Nicest Day in the History of IUPUI" celebration honoring the Bepkos for their commitment to IUPUI will begin at 11:30 a.m., April 23 near the Wood Fountain on the lawn of University Library. A light lunch with beverages will be provided. Entertainment includes the IUPUI Singing Deans.

White House official to speak at Cybersecurity Center opening this Thursday
Howard Schmidt, chairman of the White House National Infrastructure Protection Board, will be the featured speaker at the opening of the Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research at 11 a.m., Thursday, April 17 in the Lawrence W. Inlow Hall Atrium, 530 W. New York St. Also speaking will be the Center's director, Fred H. Cate, distinguished professor (IU School of Law - Bloomington) and Ira C. Batman Faculty Fellow.

Faculty Learning Communities Applications Available
All IUPUI faculty members are invited to submit applications to participate in a faculty learning community.
Eight faculty learning communities will convene during the 2003-04 academic year: The Capstone Experience; Large Class Instruction; Multicultural Course Transformation in Blocked Courses and Thematic Learning Communities (two communities); Preparing Future Faculty Advisory; Problem-Based Learning; Scholarship of Teaching and Learning on Assessment in Gateway Courses; and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning on Instructional Technology Impact.
Each learning community will meet regularly for discussions, and research and development activities. A faculty member or staff from the Office for Professional Development will facilitate each group. Participants will receive a $500 for travel or other expenses connected with learning community work.
The application deadline is May 9, 2003.

Race for the Cure at IUPUI Expected To Draw Huge Crowd
More than 33,000 runners and walkers are expected to participate in the Race for the Cure Saturday (April 12) at IUPUI.
A record number of participants have joined the IUPUI Team for the race, with 899 signed up for the event, including 39 children and 19 breast cancer survivors. The IUPUI team raised $17,000 this year with fees and individual donations. A team picture will be taken at 7:15 a.m. on the steps of University Library.
Easiest access to campus before and during the race will be from the West Street exits of Interstate Highway 65 (Exit 114), on Michigan Street from the east and on 10th Street from the west. The Blackford Street garage and Lot 80 will be reserved for IUPUI permits during this event. Parking south of Michigan will be congested, as well as traffic on Michigan and West Streets before the event.
Enrollment Now Open for Herron Summer Art Program
Enrollment for the Herron Summer Honors Art Program is now open to high school juniors and seniors or recent graduates preparing to enter college.

Indiana Pacers Recognize the Jaguars: Discounted Game Tickets Available
Pacers Sports & Entertainment will recognize the IUPUI's men's basketball team and their tremendous accomplishments this season during a half-time ceremony, featuring head coach Ron Hunter and some of the members of the team, during the Indiana Pacers game vs. New Jersey on Wednesday, April 16 at 7:00 p.m. Jaguar fans are invited to join Pacer fans during this special game promotion and will receive discounted tickets to the game.
