MLK America Reads/Good Friends Celebrity Readers:
IUPUI head Men’s Basketball Coach Ron Hunter reads (far right) to children at Hawthorne Community Center during a reading workshop held Jan. 17 in celebration of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Hunter was among the celebrity readers for the event sponsored by America Reads and Good Friends volunteers.



IUPUI Mascot Jinx and Miss Indiana USA 2005 Kaitlyn Christopher (bottom left) also participated in the event which also included craft activities for the children and parent workshops on topics related to children’s literacy.

Jags Bookstores offer free tickets to Clash @ Conseco with apparel purchase: As part of the effort to fill Conseco Fieldhouse with IUPUI-red clad fans for the Feb. 3 game between the IUPUI Jaguars and Valparaiso, the Jags Bookstores are giving a free ticket to the game with every purchase of IUPUI Jaguar apparel.

Bookstore workers model red game shirts which are among the choices of shirts available as part of the Clash @ Conseco promotion. The free-ticket offer is good now while supplies last at the two main campus Jags Bookstores located in Cavanaugh Hall and the Union building.

Legal Scholars/Social Scientists to Discuss Impact of Global Warming, Biotechnology on Developing Countries
Several of the world's most pressing issues, from global warming to biotechnology innovation hold special implications for less developed countries (LDCs). For example, although genetically modified organisms hold promise for adequate food supplies or LDCs, they also pose substantial environmental risks.
