Gladden appointed Dean of the IU School of Physical Education and Tourism Management at IUPUI

Dr. James ("Jay") Gladden has been appointed Dean of the IU School of Physical Education and Tourism Management at IUPUI, pending approval by the IU Board of Trustees, announced Chancellor Charles R. Bantz.
Gladden joins IUPUI after spending the last two years as Associate Dean in the Isenberg School of Management at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Gladden succeeds P. Nicholas Kellum who is stepping down as dean of the school, the country’s oldest school of physical education, which also has one of the country's newest programs to train professionals in the areas of tourism, conventions and event management.

It's a Three-Peat for Electronic Communications Team

Chris Brown, a web specialist with the IUPUI electronic communications team, won a bronze award in the 2009 CASE Circle of Excellence Awards for "Happening at IUPUI," the new campus events calendar. Brown's award marks the third time in three years the team has won an award in the Case competition as well as the annual Admissions Advertising Awards.

Farmers' Market at Wishard

Beginning May 12 and continuing every Tuesday until September 1, local farmers will be at the Farmers' Market at Wishard to sell their fresh fruits, vegetables and plants.
The market will be set up around the perimeter of the Wellness Gardens behind the Bryce Building (behind the pathway that leads from the Primary Care Center to the Main Entrance) from 11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. A variety of seasonal fruits and vegetables will be available for purchase.

Kim Springer, a 2003 MSW grad, Named Executive Director of the Indiana Neuroscience Institute at St. Vincent Hospital

Kim Springer's innate business sense combined with her social work skills made her the perfect choice as executive director of the Indiana Neuroscience Institute at St. Vincent Hospital.
Springer, who received her Bachelor of Social Work degree in 2002 and her MSW degree from the Indiana University School of Social Work at IUPUI in 2003, had been the interim executive director at the institute since August of 2008. She was recently named executive director of the institute.

Virgil Gregory tops off IUPUI Career with Phd in Social Work
As a boy growing up on Indianapolis' eastside, Virgil Gregory realized that education would be a key to his future.
Little did he know how far his enthusiasm would take him.
Gregory, a PhD student in the School of Social Work at IUPUI successfully defended his doctoral dissertation, entitled, "Gregory Research Beliefs Scale (GRBS) – Factor Structure and Psychometric Properties," earning him the right to add the title "Dr." in front of his name.
