For the past eight years, Chuck Farrell has jumped at the chance to add a bit of extra work to an already busy work schedule. His Township provides the site and encouragement; he provides the instruction and support to an annually growing number of interns.

As the lead social worker in the Lawrence Township School System, Chuck provides field instruction for four Indiana University School of Social Work students and four psychology students from the University of Indianapolis.

Anthony Faiola named Executive Associate Dean of School of Informatics at IUPUI

Bobby Schnabel, dean, IU School of Informatics, has announced that Anthony Faiola has accepted an appointment as executive associate dean (EAD) for the IUPUI portion of the School.

The three-year term is effective July 1. Faiola, who has been serving as interim EAD, was selected as the outcome of an extensive national search.

Seven Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis faculty members are among the 17 recipients of the 2009 Faculty Colloquium on Excellence in Teaching award.

FACET awards are presented to faculty members from Indiana University campuses across the state who have demonstrated their exceptional commitment to teaching and learning through areas of self-evaluation, course preparation, research, instructional skills, and student impact.

Emily Hickman is a Top 100 student, a Cox Scholar, works 55 hours a week and goes to school full-time.

Is it too much to handle? No, says Hickman, a junior at IUPUI in the School of Social Work’s Bachelor of Social Work program. She looks at pressure the way a contestant in a hot dog eating event views another hot dog – the more the better.
