Taylor Bust Unveiled as Campus Marks 10th University College Anniversary

About 200 people attended the IUPUI celebration marking the 10th anniversary of University College, the 40th anniversary of IUPUI, and the unveiling of the portrait bust of Dr. Joseph T. Taylor, the first dean of the School of Liberal Arts at IUPUI.

Guests attending the February 25, 2009, event included Herron School of Art and Design graduate and Taylor bust sculptor Casey Eskridge, and keynote speaker Eugene White, superintendent of Indianapolis Public Schools.

Director Hired for New Office of Veteran and Military Personnel at IUPUI

A national veterans service organization official has been hired as the first manager of the Office of Veteran and Military Personnel at IUPUI, announced Rebecca Porter, executive director of Enrollment Services and Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Services.

Susan Richards, formerly Corporate and Community Relations Manager for the National Headquarters of the American Legion Auxiliary in Indianapolis, begins her new duties this week.

Bonnie Mowinski Jennings, DNSc, RN, FAAN, will be the distinguished lecturer at the Ninth Annual Sonna Ehrlich Merk Distinguished Lectureship on Friday, March 6, 2009. This event that promotes collaboration between nursing service and education. A luncheon and lecture, hosted jointly by the Indiana University School of Nursing (IUSON) and Clarian Health will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Ballroom of the University Place Conference Center & Hotel on the IUPUI campus. Dr. Jennings's presentation is entitled "The Care Environment: Can Chaos, Commotion and Quality Coexist?"

National Sports Journalism Center Opening Features ABC's Lavin, ESPN's Steele and Wojciechowski, and Star's Kravitz

The IU School of Journalism launches its new National Sports Journalism Center with a panel discussion at 6:45 p.m. March 11, 2009, at IUPUI.

"Heroes, Hype and the Truth: Separating Fact from Fiction in Today's Sports World" will feature panelists Steve Lavin of ABC-TV and ESPN; Sage Steele, ESPN SportsCenter anchor; Gene Wojciechowski, senior writer for ESPN Magazine; and Bob Kravitz, sports columnist at the Indianapolis Star and EPSN Radio cohost.
