Responsibilities and Expectations:
• Serve as a student representative on the University Hearing Commission.
• Members of the hearing commission are expected to remain in good standing with all federal, state, and local laws as well as all university policies and standards.
• Members of the hearing commission are expected to participate in all mandatory training and professional development deemed necessary by the university.
• Members of the hearing commission must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.
• Uphold the University's community standards as defined in the Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, & Conduct.
• Honor confidentiality of information disclosed.
• Set aside personal and/or organizational perspective in order to establish accountability and maintain community standards.
• Members of the commission who fail to meet the requirements of their appointment may be removed per the policy of their representative governing bodies or at the recommendation of the Director of Student Conduct to the Dean of Students.
• Monthly student group meetings with designated advisor.

Requirements:
• Be enrolled as full-time student at IUPUI.
• Basic knowledge of IU Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Strong work ethic with great attention to details.
• Good time management skills.

Candidates must have at least a 2.0 cumulative IUPUI GPA and be in good academic and personal misconduct standing at the time of application and those hired must maintain this standing throughout the term of appointment. Undergraduate candidates must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours and graduate/professional candidates must be enrolled in at least 8 hours.


Terms of Service:

Date of Hiring through the end of Summer I.

Time Commitment:

University Hearing Commission members are required to attend training before being eligible to sit on a hearing panel. Student members should expect to be able to commit a minimum of two hours per week. The Office of Student Conduct attempts to schedule hearings between the hours of 9 AM-5 PM, Monday through Friday. Members need to be available for one (1) three-hour block during those times. Members will receive an email letting them know which upcoming hearings they have been scheduled for based on their availability.
