In an effort to provide a low-cost, convenient option for travelers between IU Bloomington and IUPUI, IU has partnered with GO Express Travel to offer a shuttle service between the two campuses. The service began Dec. 1, with an official launch scheduled for Jan. 12. The service will run four trips each weekday between the two campuses, offering a wheelchair accessible and environmentally friendly travel option for faculty, staff, students and the general public.
This shuttle service provides a number of benefits, including Wi-Fi, electrical outlets, reclining seats, a lavatory, DirecTV and Double Map—a real-time, bus-tracking interactive map. For information on purchasing tickets and a schedule of travel times, see campuscommute.com.

- $8.50—One-way tickets with reserved seating can be purchased by IU Employees online at campuscommute.com.

Passengers should plan to arrive at the shuttle stop no less than 5 minutes before the scheduled departure time.

Can tickets be purchased in advance?

Will I need to have my ID to ride the shuttle?
A student ID or driver’s license must be presented to the bus driver along with the confirmation email provided with your online ticket purchase.
Can I purchase tickets online in someone else’s name?
Yes. Online tickets can be purchased on behalf of someone else. It’s important that the recipient be given the confirmation email so he/she can give it to the driver as proof of purchase. The recipient must also be prepared to show his/her student ID or driver’s license when boarding the bus.
Does an advance ticket purchase mean that a seat is guaranteed?
Advance ticket purchase options include both open seating—seats are offered on a first-come, first-served basis—and reserved seating. Upgrading to a reserved seat will cost an additional $1.50.
What payment options are accepted for shuttle ticket purchase?
Credit cards are the accepted form of payment online or on the bus. The JagTag office accepts cash, credit cards and JagTag as payment.
Can IU employees use pre-tax dollars to purchase tickets?
IU employees can use pre-tax dollars for commuting purposes ONLY. Please visit University Human Resources for more information about enrollment in the Pre-Tax Commuter Benefit. This benefit does not reduce the cost of the ticket, but the pre-tax plan does save money by lowering the amount of federal, state and local income taxes you pay. This benefit is NOT available to students.
Can I purchase a ticket on the shuttle?
Yes. Walk-up sales are allowed, but cash is NOT accepted. A credit card must be used for in-bus purchase.

Does the intercampus shuttle run on weekends?
No. The shuttle operates Monday through Friday. However, additional service may be added in the future if demand is there.
Will the shuttle operate in inclement weather?
The shuttle will continue to operate as long as the roads are passable. If a state of emergency has been declared in Marion, Morgan or Monroe Counties, the shuttle will cease operation. Notification will be placed on the Double Map App and campuscommute.com.
Does the shuttle operate for IU football and/or basketball games?
There will not be a special shuttle for IU football or basketball games. However, if the game is scheduled during the times the shuttle is operational, fans can ride the shuttle.
Are animals allowed on the shuttle?
Only registered service animals (animals that provide assistance to passengers with disabilities) are permitted on the intercampus shuttle.
Are accommodations made for customers with a disability?

Are food and drink allowed on the bus?
Yes. Food and drink are allowed on the bus. However neither food nor beverages are sold on the bus.
Is the shuttle schedule subject to change?

Will the shuttle operate during the holidays?
Yes. The shuttle will maintain the existing schedule during the holidays. The shuttle will also run on a scheduled holiday if it falls during the workweek.

Do purchased, unused shuttle tickets ever expire?

IUPUI departments that wish to purchase intercampus shuttle tickets for employee/departmental use and have the cost billed to an IU account, must complete the following forms and submit to IUPUI Accounting: Request for Card Services and IUPUI Request for Payment/Reimbursement for Hospitality. Once the request has been approved, the order will be forwarded to the IUPUI JagTag Office for fulfillment and billing. Departments will be notified when tickets are available for pick-up.
IU Bloomington is currently exploring options for billing direct to accounts. An announcement will be made in the future.
Can faculty, staff and students ride the intercampus shuttle for pleasure or is it strictly for business purposes?
The intercampus shuttle can be ridden for both business and pleasure. But travel for non-IU business is not reimbursable.
At what point will the shuttle service be evaluated to determine its effectiveness?
The service will be evaluated on a monthly basis. An advisory board will be created to consult on operational concerns such as routes, schedules, bus stops, rider concerns and service performance.
How much is Indiana University paying for this service?
There are no direct or billable costs to Indiana University. This service is being offered by GO Express Travel and is completely supported by ridership dollars.
