Getting Started

So you want (or have) to make an IUPUI site? This is the place to start. This guide is not for personal home pages, for information on that, see At IU, how can I publish personal pages on Mypage?

What will your site look like?

You must use the IUPUI template if your site is:

• A public-facing website for administrative units
• A multi-department or campus initiative

You do not have to use the IUPUI web template (though you can if you wish) if your site is:

• One of the 22 academic units, academic departments, or research centers
• Part of the department of intercollegiate athletics

You may not use the the web template if your site is for:

• Student organizations
• IU or Purdue system-wide departments or initiatives
• Organizations outside of Indiana University
• Student, faculty or staff personal websites

What account will you use?

I have an account on Webserve. Webserve is the cental IU server that has recently replaced both Champion and Veritas. If your web address would be http://www.iupui.edu/~accountname/, http://accountname.iupui.edu/, or http://www.iupui.edu/accountname, you are on Webserve. I have an account on another server. If your department maintains its own server, and you do not log in through Webserve, you aren't using Webserve. Your department will then likely have a webmaster who can incorporate the template by copying the relevant files. View instructions for using the template on departmental servers

I don't have a website. If your department doesn't have an account, follow the directions in the Knowledge Base article At IU, who can have an account on the university web servers, and how do I get one?

I have a website, but I don't know how to log into it. If you know you have a site, but don't know where it is located or how to log in, ask your LSP (local support provider).
