The IU CoE Leadership Component has as its primary mission the nurturing and advancement of women in academic medicine and related fields. This includes women at all levels of training from medical students to faculty, but it also includes young women in grades K-12 and college who might have an interest in medicine and science but have not been encouraged by their environment to pursue such careers.
Mentoring
The Student-Faculty Mentor Group. We have an ongoing program in mentoring for female students by female faculty, the Female Student-Faculty Mentor Group, which is held in conjunction with the very active IU Student American Medical Women’s Association (AMWA) group. Over 30 faculty-student pairs are currently participating.
