University Writing Center

The University Writing Center (UWC) is a free service available to all IUPUI students, faculty, and staff, at both the graduate and undergraduate level. The service is provided through the IUPUI School of Liberal Arts, the English Department and the Writing Program.

Summer 2008 News:

1.) The University Writing Center tutors will be in University Library only this summer. Due to construction in Cavanaugh, the CA 427 location of the University Writing Center will be closed. Tutors will be available at the University Library location, UL 2125 beginning May 7th at 10am. See our Location & Hours page for more details or call 278-8171 to schedule a session.

2.) Hours may vary from semester to semester; however, the University Writing Center is CLOSED when undergraduate classes are not in session due to holidays or school breaks (i.e., spring break, Memorial Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving break, etc.).

3.) Due to an increased demand for our services, ALL undergraduate tutoring sessions are now 30 minutes long. This change includes both ESL/EAP (English as Second Language/ English for Academic Purposes) students and native English speakers.

4.) We do not accept papers sent via e-mail for review. We also do not accept papers "dropped off" for review. Writers must attend a session with a UWC tutor, in order to receive assistance. Please see our FAQ for answers to other frequently asked questions!

5.) Check out our handouts page, from which you may download free resources covering such writing-related topics as pre-writing, syntax, style, MLA and APA citation documentation, revision, and synthesis. Many of these handouts have been written for use by students in IUPUI core writing courses such as ENG-W001, ENG-W131, and ENG-W132!
