Employment

The IUPUI University Writing Center employs faculty members and specially trained students as consultants. If you are interested in becoming a member of the UWC team, please e-mail our Coordinator, Tere Molinder Hogue, at tmhogue@iupui.edu.

A teaching assignment in the University Writing Center is an option for faculty with one year of experience teaching in IUPUI's Writing Program or English for Academic Purposes Program - receiving thorough grounding in composition studies through those programs. Contact Vicki Hale (vhale@iupui.edu) with questions about teaching composition with native speaking English students, or Melanie Curfman (mjcurfma@iupui) with questions about teaching composition with international students.

Every year, IUPUI undergraduate students accepted into the Writing Fellows program enroll in ENG-W496, the Consultant Training Seminar. Over the course of the semester, fledgling consultants interact with UWC staff, learn the day-to-day operations of the UWC, and begin working with students. Each student who successfully earns a grade of "A" in ENG-W496, and who completes his or her in-house training, may then become a paid UWC employee at the beginning of the following spring semester.
