Professor and Department Chairman
Dr. Koch joined the faculty and became Chairman of the Department of Urology at Indiana University School of Medicine in 1998. He had previously been a member of the faculty at Vanderbilt University for 12 years. Dr. Koch is a trustee of the American Board of Urology, past-Chairman of the Examination Committee for the American Board of Urology, past-President of the Society of Urology Chairpersons, President-elect of the Society of University Chairpersons and a member of the GU Surgeons. He has been continuously board certified since 1983 and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is Chairman of the Board of the specialty physician group at Indiana University
School of Medicine and serves in multiple capacities for his specialty, the School of Medicine, and the Clarian Health Care System.
Dr. Koch treats all types of urologic cancer except for testis cancer and is experienced complex reconstruction of the urinary tract. He has published and presented at national and regional meetings on mulitple subjects related to bladder and prostate cancer. He is most well recognized for his contributions to the treatment of bladder cancer and prostate cancer. He has one of the mid-west's largest experiences with robotic surgery for prostate cancer and currently is performing over 120 robotic prostatectomies per year. In addition, Indiana University School of Medicine has the leading center in the United States on the use of
innovative modalities such as high intensity focused ultrasound for the treatment of localized prostate cancer and treatment after radiation failure.
