When are  the first two face-to-face class sessions, and where are they?

The first face-to-face class will be conducted  the Monday before Labor Day, on Monday, August 31, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. local time of the instructional site.   The second class will be held the Monday after Labor Day, on Monday, September 14, 2009, from 5-8 p.m. local time of the instructional site.

Will I need to work on my WS I class when my school system is not in session?

Content

Please note that because  much of the online portion of this class is asynchronous, no adjustments will be made for specific school vacation periods or non-instructional days because these vary in different regions of Indiana.   We do take time some vacation time off during the school year in December and January.

Do I need to use have high speed Internet access for the online class work?

Yes.  Although you might receive some class functionality using dial-up service, broadband (high speed) Internet access is highly advised (DSL, cable, T-1, satellite, etc.,) as many ofthe online course software tools to be used operate very slowly when a 56k dial modem is used.  Note that most schools and libraries have high-speed Internet access.

Because  Internet access is fairly universal, it is now possible for many students to access classes when away from home with laptops or through other computers with Internet access available to the public (such as libraries and some hotels or other businesses). Nearly all hotels offer high-speed Internet service to guests, some free and some for $10 to $12 per 24 hours access note that some charge in the rooms but offer free service in the lobby.)   In addition, some delis (such as McAlister's Deli) and some coffee shops (such as Panera Bread) offer free high speed Internet access.
