Please note that you must be hired by an Indiana school corporation or by or on behalf of the Indiana Department of Corrections for 2009-2010 to apply for a WS I (Initial Practitioner) license (the application form and signatures will be provided by the hiring school) or to enroll in this WS I Training.  You cannot do either to prepare for a future job in teaching.

General Information:

We have face-to-face classes on the training schedule for August 31 and September 14, 2009 at the four training sites (click Class Locations on the menu for class locations.)   March 01, 2010 is reserved for possible TABE test retakes; but this may only be at Indianapolis.  WS I teachers also needed to attend the Friday conference Workplace Specialist workshops at the Indiana ACTE Conference in Indianapolis on September 25, 2009.  Mentors for WS I teachers were also to attend this conference day on Friday, September 25, 2009.  The majority of the class will be online throughout the school year, with assignments ending in April, 2010.

We have 83 WS I teachers currently enrolled state-wide, down slightly from a peak of 90. Click Class Locations to see the current enrollment at each class location.  If you see any errors in your enrollment information, please send an e-mail to dnickoli@iupui.edu

WS I teachers that missed both of the first two classes must wait until next year to take this training program, or if they missed any two (2) of the first three sessions of 8-31, 9-14, and 9-25, are typically not allowed to continue in the training program. We will work with any CTE Director to consider any true hardship cases, as our mission includes serving you and your Workplace Specialist teachers; however, we need to maintain some good, sensible participation standards as the general rule.  Thank you.
