Process to register for the 2009-2010 WS I Training Program

It is very important to note that the WS I teacher taking the training must be hired by the school corporation prior to the start of training.  Mid-year hires will need to take the WS I Training Program during the 2010-2011 school year.

We have two enrollment form completion options this year.  The first option is the traditional option, shown here.  Scroll down for option 2.

The director or designee should first download the registration form to start the registration process for the WS I teacher.  The first page of the form provides VERY important information for the WS I teacher to follow and for the CTE Director to understand.  We have a requirement this year that to complete the registration, the WS I teacher MUST have a working e-mail account (it can be a personal account already used daily) that the WS I teacher already has access to.  Waiting for new school e-mail accounts delays registration, so please use a working e-mail account.  Also, WS I teachers AND their mentors are required to attend the Indiana ACTE Conference, Friday sessions, on September 25, 2009 in Indianapolis.

Then enter the required information on the form using Microsoft Word®, and send it back to WS I Training Program Director following the directions near the bottom of the registration form. The original signed copy should be sent via U.S. Mail, but the form may be e-mailed or FAXed to meet the August 27, 2009 registration deadline or to get the registration request in ASAP.  We will try our best to get your new WS I teacher in the training program even after the enrollment deadline; but, please remember that if the teacher misses both of the first two classes, the teacher will have to take this training during 2010-2011.

New!  Enrollment form completion option 2!  You should now be able to click the logo or link below to start an online fill-in-the-form registration process.  If nothing happens when you click the link, or if you see only a read only .pdf file, this new service is not ready. If you receive a not found page or other error, please click the BACK button.  Then use the first enrollment option, the downloading of a Word format file.

You will need to have Adobe Acrobat Reader version 9 software (free from www.adobe.com) to use the online form.   Be sure to read the registration form instructions on page 1 of the form prior to registering online or offline. You must have a working e-mail address for the online registration to work.

2009-2010 WS I Training Registration Form

Please completely fill out the registration form.  The e-mail address for the WS I Teacher is vital to be on this form to provide access to the online course management software and for communications.

As we process the WS I registrations for 2009-2010, starting in early August, the names of these WS I teachers will appear on the rosters for their face-to-face class location at this WS I Training Program Web site  http://www.iupui.edu/~team8ols/wsi.

Please make sure that the WS I teacher is aware that the first two face-to-face class sessions of the WS I Training Program will be on August 31 and September 14, 2009 from 5-8 p.m. local time of the class location. Provide a copy of the form to the WS I Teacher, as the teacher should bring it to the first face-to-face class session to give to the WS I instructor.

This is important to convey to the WS I teacher:  We will send a Welcome e-mail later in August, personalized to each WS I teacher enrolled, to the e-mail account listed on the registration forms as "to be used for this class."  This e-mail will explain to the WS I teacher to go to the above Web site for directions to the face-to-face training location and other information such as the class schedule (you can give them the Web site now, if you wish.)  Teachers will not receive anything from us via U.S. postal mail.

Instruction will be given on August 31st for how to get into the online class system, and the online portion of the class is not available before then.

Please note that WS I teacher names should typically appear on the Web site before e-mails are sent to the WS I teacher.

We will do our very best to accommodate the teacher's first choice for the live face-to-face class location, but that is not always possible. The registration form allows you to select the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th choice for locations. There will be several face-to-face meetings at the class training locations. Click Class Locations to see details of the four training locations.

Note: Training location site rosters may need to be changed because of space and equipment limitations.  The online faculty member assignments and online rosters for WS I teachers will be made available later.  An WS I teacher may have a different online class instructor than the one assigned as the face-to-face class instructor. Students will receive an e-mail informing them that they have an Indiana University computer guest account ID and they will need to respond as directed in that e-mail to be able to use the online class (password to be given at the first class,) and an e-mail reminding them of their first class, but no enrollment or welcome packet is sent to the student.  WS I teachers may be directed to this Web site by directors, and e-mails to the WS I Teachers will direct them to this Web site.  Only if absolutely necessary will a class location be changed.

Every effort will be made to minimize the travel distance for each teacher.  Moving to online delivery for most of the sessions has reduced  the number of times the teachers must travel to a face-to-face class site  by nine trips.  Some WS I teachers, however, because of  limitations of the number of computers at a single site, may not be able to attend the closest or most convenient site.  Even in this case, travel will be dramatically reduced over the alternative instructional delivery methods.

IMPORTANT:   No one missing both of the first two live face-to-face (remote) sessions (which are required) will be permitted to participate in this year's training project. Mid-year hires will be required to begin the training in 2010-2011 school year.

All dates are Mondays (except the Indiana ACTE conference on Friday, 9/25/2009) and all times are 5-8 p.m. local time of the instructional site unless noted.  Note that some dates may need to change in the event of local facility closings, for reasons such as bad weather, days that facilities are closed, except for "make-ups for snow days, or other necessary local closings.  Your local instructor will discuss this issue with you should your location must be closed on one of the dates shown below.
