Training

The required training personnel must complete before they work with animals includes a review of written materials provided by the IACUC office. The written materials provide information about the regulations, ethics of animal use, common zoonoses, as well as species and procedure-specific information. The Training Document Forms are maintained on file in the IACUC office to document the training requirements are complete.

Effective September 21, 1999, all of the participants on newly approved studies are required to initial the application form by their name, indicating that they have read and understand the experimental procedures that are approved for that study. Animal orders are not accepted until these training requirements are met for all participants on that study.

To fulfill training requirements, send a request to the IACUC office at somiacuc@iupui.edu. Provide the name of the investigator and the study numbers to identify the studies for which you will become a participant.
