Keynote speaker, <em>Distinguished Professor Howard Giles, UC  Santa Barbara</em></p>
<p>Howard Giles has a long history of publishing on intergroup and intergenerational communication issues and notably, he developed the “Accommodation Theory,” applying the perspective to a number of everyday problems people face when they are from different cultures, have different group affiliations, or try to communication across generations. His presentation turns to particular group, law enforcement.</p>
<p>Professor Giles’ selection as the <a title="" href="http://www.des07.com/t/22732607/510931046/50911975/0/" target="_blank" data-link="custom">IUPUI TRIP</a> Inaugural Speaker is based on his keen ability to effectively illustrate how to translate research investigations to make evidenced-based changes in communicative behavior to improve the way law enforcement teams function effectively as a group.</p>
