On November 7th, 2006, the IUPUI Solution Center hosted its 1000 Solutions Celebration, an opportunity to acknowledge the many community and campus partnerships created through the Solution Center over the past three years. Joining the faculty, staff, and community partners at the day-long series of events and ceremonies, was Oscar Robertson, 1956 Crispus Attucks High School graduate and celebrated athlete and community hero. » View videos of the 1000 Solutions Celebration
The 1000 Solutions Celebration began with an afternoon ceremony honoring Mr. Robertson at the Crispus Attucks Museum. This event also included a street dedication ceremony at which Deputy Mayor Steve Campbell officially named Oscar Robertson Blvd (formerly 11th Street) in honor of Mr. Robertson.
Other ceremonies included a reception on the IUPUI Campus honoring many of the Solution Center partners, and singling out the 1000th Solution, an exciting project that partnered the Pacers, the School of Informatics, and the Solution Center to preserve Mr. Robertson’s personal scrapbooks for donation to the Crispus Attucks Museum. A second ceremony was held that evening at the Pacer’s half-time show where Mr. Robertson, Larry Bird, and Teresa Bennett, director of the IUPUI Solution Center, formerly donated the recently preserved documents to Patricia Payne, Director of the Crispus Attucks Museum.
Public ceremonies are planned for spring when the street signs go up on the newly renamed street just north of the IUPUI campus.
