Dogs were also a huge hit at the Regatta! The event planning committee hosted a dog costume contest and all dogs were welcome throughout the day.
Jinx and Jaws came out to support the event! They spent the day playing around the canal.
Fraternities and sororities came out with their letters for the 2012 Regatta.
Eight teams paddled in the preliminary heats. The committee used buoys to line up each team.
Teams participating in the Regatta often dress up and enter in a costume competition. This particular team dressed as superheroes!
The winning team, the Dental School Kavity Killas, cherished their win at the end of the day!
The IUPUI Regatta is the largest event that takes place on the downtown canal in Indianapolis.
Sunglasses were a HUGE hit at the 2012 Regatta! Spectators enjoyed the sunshine while watching the competition.
The Herron School of Art and Design Alumni Association hosted the “en Plein Aire” Art Contest, where participants create art the day of the Regatta to compete for cash prizes.
Over 4,000 people attended the Regatta. What a crowd!
The Regatta featured the presentation of the flags by ROTC, which brought everyone to their feet.
The canal brought together people from all over the city of Indianapolis for the Regatta: IUPUI students, faculty, staff, and even families and community members.
The IUPUI Regatta had 112 teams participate in the race. Look at them go!
This year, the race sported a new timing system, which also lined up the teams before starting the race.

Student organizations had the opportunity to participate in the Regatta as well by providing activities for the families.
