8-10 am Pancakes and Paddles – Pancake Breakfast to benefit Student Scholarships

On behalf of the IUPUI Regatta Steering Committee, we welcome all IUPUI parents and families to the inaugural Pancake and Paddles Pancake Breakfast!  The breakfast will be from 8-10 at the Indianapolis downtown Canal located near Creation Café.  Breakfast will consist of pancakes, sausage, and your choice of orange juice or coffee for $5 cash!  All proceeds from the event go to student scholarships.  Joining us to initiate the event will be Chancellor Bantz who will flip the first pancake. Breakfast will be served by the most-important-meal-of-the-day-loving IUPUI men’s and women’s basketball teams.  Start your 2011 Regatta day right with the Pancakes and Paddles Breakfast!  We look forward to seeing you there!  Please visit our facebook event and RSVP.  We kindly ask that you indicate how many will be attending so we can anticipate how many people we need to feed.

IUPUI students – You are most definitely invited to breakfast too!  Please invite your families so they can experience the IUPUI Regatta with us!

10 am-5 pm IUPUI Regatta

Come see what all of the excitement is all about!  2011 will mark the 3rd annual IUPUI Regatta, a canoe race along the downtown Indianapolis canal.  96 teams consisting of up to eight IUPUI students, faculty/staff, and alumni will row to see who is the fastest!  To learn more about the Regatta, please visit the About the Regatta page.

IUPUI Regatta Family and Community Area

The IUPUI Regatta is more than a canoe race down the canal.  There is so much more for families to do!  When you are not enjoying the races, please check out the Family and Community Area.

  • We will have Critter’s Chance which is a wildlife rehabilitation and exotic pet rescue adoption.
  • Fred Astaire, a ballroom dancing studio, and Fitness in Motion will both be performing.  They also might teach you a move or two!
  • Students from Herron School of Art and Design will be doing face painting throughout the day
  • Easels will be set up in the Family and Community Area, and Herron students will be helping children create their own Regatta masterpieces.
  • There will be a dog costume contest, so don’t forget to bring your pooch to the Canal!
  • Several student organizations will also be represented in the Family and Community Area.  Activities with these organizations include a dunk tank, basketball hoops, etc., but you’ll have to see everything they have planned for yourself!
  • Come make your mark!  We have a large canvas that was painted in one of our art camps to look like water/waterfall using blue and white paint. We would like to have visitors use this canvas as inspiration and create stenciled sticker designs, such as boats, fishes, etc., to place on top of the water backdrop.
  • Make your own Regatta trading cards!  We will have a few tables set up for kids to create individual watercolor trading cards.  The kids would paint whatever image they'd like and keep the painting or trade their painting with another artist.

IUPUI Parent & Family Jagwear

Barnes & Noble at IUPUI will be selling IUPUI apparel and accessories at the Regatta, so be sure to stop by to pick up your Jagwear!  See what’s available now!
