SOAR Activities

SOAR Member Meetings:
Member meetings are for all members of SOAR, and are designed to share information about upcoming SOAR programs, get input from members, and provide opportunities for involvement. Meetings take place on the second Friday of every month, from 12:30-1:30 in the Campus Center, room 148.
Alumni Panels:
The Alumni Panel Discussions provide an opportunity for students to interact with and gain career advice from successful alumni. We invite 6-8 alumni from a specific industry or field to form a panel and between 30-50 students are invited to submit questions to the panel. This event, open to both undergraduate and graduate students, is not designed for students to actively job search but it is a perfect opportunity to network with alumni.
Dinner with a Jaguar:
In this smaller scale setting, students get a chance to network with an alumnus, as well as ask questions about graduating, finding a job, and life in general One alumnus hosts dinner for 4-8 students, with dinners varying from casual to fancy, from out to eat or in the relaxed setting of the alum’s home.
Ambassador Events:
As the official IUPUI Student Ambassadors, SOAR provides its members with experiences that enhance their education, as well as opportunities to meet alumni, faculty, staff, and students. Please email Michele Luzetski at soar@iupui.edu or call 274-6587 for upcoming Student Ambassador volunteer opportunities.
Top 100:
The Office of Alumni Relations recognizes the top 100 students at IUPUI every year. Top 100 Students excel in scholastic achievement, collegiate and co-curricular activities, as well as civic/community service. SOAR helps with the application process and planning of the event, as well as attending and staffing the Top 100 Dinner.
SOAR Spirit, Social, and Service Events:
- IUPUI Regatta: Canoe Races on the Downtown Canal. This was the inaugural year for this fantastic event! We had 48 teams of students, staff, and alumni compete in a relay canoe race on the canal. The event also includes food, beverages, games, prizes, corporate tents, face painting, live music and more!
Halloween Social: SOAR collaborates with SAPB, Ball Hall, and SASUE to host a spooktacular night of fun. We host a costume contest and pumpkin carving contest, as well as contribute decorations and man-power.
At the event, you will find food, DJ & dance floor, games, and more.- Jag-Gating/Homecoming: Jaguar Tailgating! The first Jag-Gate took place in conjunction with Homecoming 2009 and will again take place during Homecoming 2010. Jag-Gating provides a chance for students and alumni to come together before Jaguar athletic events and pump up the spirit. Jag-Gating includes food, games, music, prizes, and more.
- Graduation Event: Creating class unity at IUPUI. SOAR is planning to host a Graduation Event for the seniors of the 2009-2010 year. We are creating senior events leading up to the culminating graduation event. We are also currently seeking seniors to serve on the Grad Committee.
- Service Opportunities: SOAR participates in blood drives, marathons, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, and other service programs around Indianapolis. We also continually have events that call for volunteers.

The Society of Success and Leadership:
The National Society of Leadership and Success (SLS) is an organization IUPUI to help facilitate leadership training for our students. Student members are entered into a national organization that provides training and networking right on our campus. Your membership to the Society of Success and Leadership also includes a one-year membership to SOAR. You will receive great benefits from both organizations! For more information please contact Zak Koehler at zkoehler@iupui.edu.
