Residential Based Learning Communities

A Residential Based Learning Community is a residentially based education unit in a specific college or university program that is organized on the basis of an academic theme or approach and integrates academic learning and community living.

Residents living in a Residential Based Learning Community will make friends, take classes and form study groups, interact closely with their respective faculty, develop programs, and enjoy the social benefits of community living.

The six Residential Based Learning Communities offered at IUPUI, Herron House, Honors House, Living Your Freshman Experience (LYFE), International House, Purdue House, Women in Science House, and Kelley House have common elements, including a specific academic focus for the community, a shared living environment, and opportunities to gather informally with faculty and staff. All Residential Based Learning Communities provide a variety of co-curricular events and informal activities that link to residential living with personal and academic development.
