Tutoring Accommodations

Adaptive Educational Services (AES) does not provide tutors for students. Under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), tutoring is considered a "personal service" and is not required of a disability-service office. However, we will help students find tutors by referring you to the Bepko Learning Center or even assisting in communicating your need for tutoring with a sponsoring agency (e.g. Indiana Vocational Rehabilitation).

Most often, students can get free peer tutoring and small-group mentoring at the University College Bepko Learning Center.

The Learning Center also offers paid tutoring in a variety of classes.* They maintain a database with names and contact information for eligible tutors. For more information, call 317-274-4818 or stop by UC 2006.

If you can’t find a tutor through the Learning Center, talk with an AES representative and we can help you explore alternatives.

* If the student is a client of Vocational Rehabilitation Services or the Veterans Administration, we may be able to make arrangements to pay for the tutor. However, you should talk to your VR or VA counselor to be sure.
