Getting Accommodations: A Step-by-Step Guide
Don’t wait until it's too late to get accommodations. It's important that you complete the testing accommodations process with our office, as soon as the semester begins!
Bring a copy of your class schedule to the AES office.
Give your schedule to an AES representative and request the accommodations you would like to receive. If you need to have a letter of notification sent to your professors please include that in your request.
Your accommodation(s) will be approved, or denied, within 24 hours of your request. If your request is denied, a staff member will contact you to discuss the reasons for the denial and any possible alternative options.
If accommodations are approved, your testing accommodations forms will be available for you to pick up (at the AES office) 48 hours from the time you made the request.
Take the testing accommodation form to your professor(s) for their signature. If you or your professors have any questions about the forms or the accommodation, please contact AES as soon as possible. If changes are made to the testing accommodation forms, both student and professor must initial the change and the professor must contact the AES office to confirm that a change has been made to the testing accommodation forms.
Once you and the professor have signed the testing accommodations forms:
- Remove the pink copies and leave them for the professor.
- Bring the white copies back to the AES office as soon as possible.
- Keep the yellow copies for your records.
After you have turned in your testing accommodation forms, you will be able to schedule your exam(s). To schedule an exam, call or come into the AES office and notify the staff that you need to schedule an exam.
It takes at least 2 days for the AES office to coordinate your testing accommodation needs. With this in mind, schedule your exam 2 to 3 days beforehand. If you do not, the accommodation you requested may not be provided.
You will schedule your exam to start at the same time and day as the rest of your classmates. If you have not yet turned in your testing accommodation forms you will not be allowed to schedule an exam.
