Welcome to the Laboratory of Li Shen at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Our laboratory is focused on research and training in medical image computing, computational biology, and bioinformatics. We study cutting-edge computational and informatics methods, and turn them into practical tools that can help computers better understand digital data (e.g., 1-D sequences, 2-D images, and 3-D shapes) in practical applications. In particular, we are currently working on various neuroimaging and genomics projects. In these projects, we apply, extend or develop state-of-art software tools for analyzing structural and functional neuroimaging data as well as genomic and other related biomarker data. The ultimate goal is to improve early diagnosis and mechanistic understanding of disease processes and treatment response for brain disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and schizophrenia, as well as the cognitive effects of cancer chemotherapy. The computational methods we study include (1) image & vision computing, (2) data mining & pattern recognition, and (3) geometric modeling & graphics. |
