Gamma Zeta “HERstory”

Since 1922 Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated was sought after from many interested females throughout the Indianapolis area. However, because many of the young ladies expressing interest were not students at ButlerUniversity they were unable to become members of the organization. Noticing the trend of interest, two sorors, Soror Nelleye Matthews and Soror Rosemary Carpenter decided to form a chapter that would incorporate all the colleges located in the Indianapolis Metro Area.

The Gamma Zeta Chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Incorporated was charted on April 6, 1963. The four founding mothers of Gamma Zeta chapter were:
Soror Myrtle Bryant
Soror Doris Ferguseon
Soror Barbara Pervine
And
Soror Mary Smith
