Dawn Bauman, Biology Department, School of Science
Of the many nominations submitted on her behalf, all stressed Dawn's commitment to the campus and people who work here. Known as "the greenhouse lady," her official title is actually Greenhouse Technician. One nominator said, "Dawn is known all across the campus for her tireless efforts, not just in managing the large School of Science greenhouse, but also in using the facility to educate and enrich the lives of many people in our community." She volunteers her time with the Biology Club's annual flower sale; at the IUPUI Center for Young Children helping them learn about plants and flowers; at Crispus Attucks Middle School with their extracurricular Science Club; and in the general beautification of our campus and city. As noted by another nominator, "Dawn is a valuable member of our university community who never seeks self-recognition but who is always there to help."

Pamela May, Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering Technology
As Administrative Secretary for the Department, Pam has shown outstanding loyalty, teamwork, and commitment to and for those with whom she works. Pam is clearly a jack-of-all-trades where office management and long-term planning are concerned. Her nominator cites her "peerless attitude" as she helps faculty, students and colleagues with their goals, offering them the benefit of her organizational talents. Whether she's helping a new student find their class, creating and editing minutes from various meetings, or managing the department's fiscal affairs, Pam continuously maintains her cheerful, hospitable, and conscientious attitude. Pam clearly exemplifies the "IUPUI Spirit."

Debbie Wyeth, Center for Urban Policy & the Environment, SPEA
Debbie had several nominations, all of which touted her "cheerleader" attitude for IUPUI. Since becoming employed on campus in 1992, Debbie has lent her positive attitude to several departments, of all of whom cite her "faithfulness and enthusiasm to IUPUI." She is an active volunteer both on and off campus. She has coordinated department teams for "Race for the Cure," and has been the Jaguar mascot, "Jinx." She is also very involved with shelter work for her church. Debbie accomplishes all this in addition to being a student in the SPEA program.

Novell Graves, Learning Resources Department, IU School of Nursing
Nominated by the School of Nursing's Staff Council Recognition Committee, Novell was unanimously selected as the school's nominee. He interacts daily with faculty and staff, helping to resolve the technological problems and concerns, a job that can be thankless and stressful. However, Novell is always kind, courteous, and willing to go the extra mile to make sure his clientele is served. He has helped faculty over weekend hours, and stays late as needed to insure computer problems are resolved. He has meets with other technology professionals on campus on a monthly basis. Novell has also volunteered his time for the School's Staff Council, serving on the Employee of the Month committee and the 2002 United Way Fund committee.

Congratulations to all the winners!

The award winners will be recognized during the Chancellor's Employee Recognition Convocation on Wednesday, October 30th at the University Place Conference Center.
