Karen Sloan, a 15 year IUPUI veteran, is the Senior Administrative Secretary for the Department of Mechanical Engineering Technology in the School of Engineering and Technology. Her "contagious upbeat attitude", sincerity, enthusiasm and dedication, earned her this prestigious award. Sloan served as the Engineering and Technology Staff Council representative during the 1998-2000 term. During her term she was also the Co-Chair of the Staff Affairs committee. Darrin Dukes is the Acquisitions Senior Assistant with the Law School Library. According to a colleague, Darrin "has been a constant source of strength, foresight and support for the Library and his fellow staff members". His loyalty and dedication earned him a nomination and bid for the staff spirit award. Dukes served as a Law School Staff Council representative for six years. As a Staff Council Representative, he served as 2nd Vice President and chaired the Rewards and Recognition Committee. Sherry Hutchens, the Coordinator of Credit Programs Services for the Community Learning Network, has served IUPUI for 20 years. Hutchens received the award due to her willingness to "go the extra mile" while "keeping the student's best interests at heart". Kathy Ferrell, a five-year employee with the School of Nursing, is a Secretary to the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs and the Director for Diversity and Enrichment. Ferrell's team player tendencies, positive attitude and contributions to the School earned her the staff spirit award. Congratulations to all the winners! The award winners will be recognized during the Chancellor's Employee Recognition Convocation this November 6 at the University Place Conference Center.
