Freshman Scholarship Information
Scholarships
IUPUI has long awarded scholarships to both incoming freshman and to continuing students in recognition of academic achievement, leadership, and more recently, community service. The scholarships for freshman are predominantly performance-based scholarships. To receive scholarship information from the IUPUI Office of Student Scholarships via e-mail please consider joining Update-Me@IUPUI. Update-Me@IUPUI is a mailing list for prospective students and incoming freshman students. As a member you will receive information about various scholarship opportunities and other campus activities. To join this list visit the "Update Me" mailing list page.
Financial Aid
Students should submit their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) by the March 1 deadline to receive priority consideration for federal, state and institutional need-based financial aid. Newly admitted freshman applying for financial aid can expect to receive notification of their financial aid in the first week of April. To submit your FAFSA online, click on the following link: www.fafsa.ed.gov. We recommend that you fill out the FAFSA on paper first so that you may use it as a reference tool when applying online. Don't forget the IUPUI Financial Aid School Code is 001813.
Freshman Scholarship Criteria
There are several ways to apply for a scholarship as an incoming freshman. Some are automatic, but others require an application. Automatic awards are based on the admissions application process. Competitive awards require that a student submit a separate scholarship application. Not all are dependent on SAT/ACT scores or class ranks. Apart from the Enrollment Services and Honors scholarships, there are scholarships available from the individual academic departments and schools, like the School of Science, Herron School of Art, and Engineering and Technology. Click the link below for descriptions and details.
Important Explanation About New SAT Scores
Please note that the new Writing section of the SAT will NOT be used as a scholarship eligibility criterion. Until more research is done on the efficacy and accuracy of this section, and best practices established about how to best evaluate this new section of the test, only the Math and Critical Reasoning portions of the test will be considered.
Therefore when you review the scholarship eligibility information on this web site and you see a required SAT score of 1200, for example, that represents the combined total of the Math and Critical Reasoning sections only.
