Scholarships

The Senior Academy sponsors three scholarships for study at the university.  All are up to $2,000 and have several different deadlines for admission and application.

SENIOR ACADEMY FRESHMAN (IPS) SCHOLARSHIP

 Up to $2,000.   Deadline: February 15, admission and application                      A, E, T, R2

 The Senior Academy at IUPUI has established a scholarship program designed to partially support tuition and books for beginning freshmen who show the potential for academic excellence in their IUPUI studies.  The scholarship will be awarded in the second semester of the awardee’s high-school senior-year for enrollment at IUPUI in the following fall semester. Applications will be reviewed and the awardee selected by the Senior Academy Scholarship Awards Committee.   Applicants must (1) meet regular admissions requirements to IUPUI, (2) have graduated from a high school in the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) system, (3) have  a high school grade point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale, and (4) agree to enroll for at least 9 credit hours per semester.  The applicant must also submit (a) an academic transcript, (b) two letters of recommendation (must be from current or former teachers), and (c) complete an essay on your academic objectives and your career goals.

SENIOR ACADEMY ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP

The Senior Academy at IUPUI has established a scholarship program designed to partially support tuition and books for students who are graduating seniors who expect to graduate with a baccalaureate degree at the end of the Spring Semester. Applications will be reviewed and the awardee selected by the Senior Academy Scholarship Awards Committee. Applicants must (1) be in good academic standing at IUPUI, (2) will have successfully completed at least 90 credit-hours prior to the semester the student is to receive funding, (3) have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50 on a 4.00 scale, and (4) agree to enroll during the Fall-Spring Semesters for the number of credit-hours required to graduate at the end of the Spring Semester but for no less than a total of at least 20 credit-hours during the last year. The applicant must also submit (a) an academic transcript, (b) two letters of recommendation from current or former instructors, and (c) complete an essay on your academic goals, how you are achieving them, and your plans after receiving your baccalaureate degree.

SENIOR ACADEMY RETURNING-STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP

 Up to $2,000.  Deadline:  March 15, admission and application                      A, E, T, R1

 The Senior Academy at IUPUI has established a scholarship program designed to partially support  tuition and books for students who, for some reason, dropped out of college-level status for at least 5 years, and are now planning to enroll in IUPUI in order to complete their first undergraduate degree. The applicant must not have enrolled in any college-level courses during the five years prior to enrolling at IUPUI. Applications will be reviewed and the awardee selected by the Senior Academy Scholarship Awards Committee.  Applicants must (1) meet regular re-admission requirements to IUPUI, (2) have had a grade point average of at least 2.00 on a 4.00 scale for previous college credits, and (3) agree to enroll for at least 6 credit hours per semester.  The applicant must also submit (a) an academic transcript of any previous undergraduate courses taken, (b) one letter of recommendation, and (c) complete an essay on your academic goals and why your experience during your absence from school will enhance your successful completion of your academic goals.
