Senior Academy members and the IU Foundation share a similar concern with the current daily wild swings in stock market values. Not only do many of us have retirement funds heavily invested in equities, but our three Senior Academy Scholarships depend on IU Foundation returns.

Gene Tempel will speak to us on Tuesday, March 17 about how the Foundation deals with this major problem and what is happening to philanthrophy in general. Higher education faces the possibility of both lower state appropriations at the same time that donors may be reluctant to give as they did in the past.
