Human Research Protection Program Receives AAHRPP Accreditation
Educational Series on Ensuing Changes to IRB Policies, Processes and Forms
The Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) at Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis (IUPUI) received qualified accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs, Inc. (AAHRPP) on March 13, 2005. AAHRPP, a nonprofit organization, provides voluntary accreditation to institutions that conduct or review research with human participants. A qualified accreditation status with AAHRPP indicates that IUPUI has met almost all of the organization’s standards; however, some minor issues need to be addressed and the University can then be granted full AAHRPP accreditation.

The Clinical Trials Program and the Office of Research Compliance Administration are pleased to announce that they will be co-sponsoring a series of educational seminars to inform researchers and their staff regarding anticipated changes to IRB policies, processes and forms resulting from the recent review and accreditation process conducted by AAHRPP. Educational sessions have been divided into two general content areas and each content area will be presented twice to better accommodate busy schedules. The sessions in April will deal primarily with changes to the initial approval process while sessions in May will deal with issues affecting project management after the study has been approved. The target audience is anyone conducting or assisting in the conduct of human subjects research on IUPUI/Clarian affiliated campuses. At least one additional session may be added and offered on the Methodist campus with date and time to be announced. See the Complete Details section for the educational seminar information and dates.
