Office for Professional Development Scholarly and Creative Activity Program (SCAP) Announces Mar 15 Deadline for Internal Funding Programs

Gateway (Special Focus) Course Grants
The 2004-2005 Gateway Course Grants program is intended to provide support for efforts to understand and improve student learning in Gateway courses. A list of these courses is available at http://www.gateway.iupui.edu. Two levels of grants are available: Larger grants, which are aimed at systemic change, will be funded at a maximum amount of $10,000. Smaller grants, designed as seed monies to initiate work that might lead to proposals for external funding or to be used as matching funds for departmental or external funding, will be funded at a maximum of $5,000 each. Requests for smaller amounts are very appropriate and might result in the funding of a greater number of projects. Funds may be used for any justifiable expenses, including student assistants, release time, consultants, or teaching resource materials. The maximum amount provided for release time will be $2,000 per semester. A maximum of $4,000 can be provided for summer salary. The total amount of salary from the grant and any other stipend must not exceed 20% of total salary. Salaries and any expenses that could be interpreted as items for personal use, such as travel and books, are taxable.

Proposal guidelines are available at http://opd.iupui.edu/grants/guidelines.htm. If you have questions, contact Alicia Gahimer at 278-0249 or algahime@iupui.edu.

Grant-in-Aid for Service: Funding of up to $3000 is available to support work that promotes relationships between IUPUI and the Indianapolis community or contributes to professional associations in the disciplines.
