IRB Executive Committee Reconsiders Stance on Recruitment Changes
Recently, the Institutional Review Board (IRB) Executive Committee voted to revise the amendment guidelines to reflect that minor changes in recruitment methodology (e.g., adding print advertisements to a recruitment strategy) would now be considered, in most cases, a minor amendment, thus not requiring full Board review. However, if drastic changes are made to recruitment methodology (e.g., to add outside sources to assist in recruitment) the Committee determined that such significant changes should still be reviewed at a full IRB meeting, rather than via the expedited review process.
