Approves New Process for Approval of Amendments and Continuing Reviews The IRBs will now review and approve, if appropriate, amendments and continuing reviews before comments are received from the Office of Compliance Services. As part of complying with the new HIPAA regulations, the Research Compliance Administration office has consulted with the Office of Compliance Services in the School of Medicine (SOM) to ensure adequate confidentiality and safeguards exist for your research study. Compliance Officers are reviewing Section VIII of the summary safeguard statement. As part of their review, you may be receiving further communication from our office if clarification or additional information is requested after amendments and/or continuing reviews have been approved by the IRB. At that time, you may be asked to make changes to Section VIII of the summary safeguard statement (SSS) or submit clarifications.
This policy applies to minor or major amendments, as well as full board continuing reviews, and continuing reviews for expedited studies that are still enrolling new subjects. |

Useful for Budget Development and Proposal Routing Previous versions of the ERA application were only offered to a few select schools and departments called Early Adopters. They served as beta testers when the modules were in development. The system is now at a point where access is being offered to any school or department that wishes to begin utilizing the electronic tools. Individual faculty and researchers, wanting to move forward with ERA account access, need to contact their academic department, as well as, Avery Nelson avnelson@iupui.edu or 317.274.8285 to initiate the account access process. |
