Medical Emergencies

In case of a medical emergency:

  1. Do not move a seriously injured person unless they are in a life threatening situation.
  2. If trained personnel are not available in your area or if an ambulance is needed, call:
    1. Wishard Ambulance Service
      9-911 from campus phones
      911 from off-campus phones
    2. AND then call IUPUI Public Safety Dispatch Center
      911 from campus phones
      (317) 274-7911 from off-campus phones
  3. Give as much information as possible regarding the nature of the illness or injury.
    • Victim's location
    • Victim is conscious? Breathing? Bleeding?
    • Victim's injuries
    • Are chemicals or radioactive materials involved?
  4. Send someone to the building entrance to meet the ambulance.
  5. Persons in your area who are trained in first aid or CPR should be listed in each campus office. CPR Training is available.
