SENIOR SEMINAR
The senior seminar is a capstone course that is designed to pull
together many of the themes and concepts that political science majors
cover in their introductory and upper-division courses. It is open only
to majors and seniors, and each section is capped at 15. Because of
demand, two sections are offered each semester, and
seminars are taught using an informal rotation among the tenured and tenure-track faculty members of the Department.
The schedule of upcoming senior seminar topics and
instructors is as follows:
- Spring 2008: American Political Development (Prof. Bandele) and American-European Relations (Prof. McCormick).
- Fall 2008: The Supreme Court (Prof. Weiden) and Southern Politics (Prof. Ferguson).
- Spring 2009: Campaigns and Elections (Prof. Vargus) and Political Representation (Comparative) (Prof. Mustillo).
This list is subject to change, so be sure to check with your advisor
and to consult OneStart before making any firm
plans.
It greatly improves the Y490 experience if you have taken all your required introductory-level Political Science courses (Y103, Y205, Y215, and Y217 or Y219) along with English W132 before you enroll in Y490. There are currently no prerequisites for Y490, but this will change in Fall 2008 when you will be required to have completed these courses before enrolling.
