Bryan Reed joined the department in August 2004. Prior to
becoming a lecturer, he taught for us as a part-time instructor,
focusing on Y103: Introduction to American Politics, Y226: Tort Law for
Paralegal Studies, and Y221: Legal Research and Writing for
Paralegal Studies. He continues teaching in these areas, while
expanding our classes in law and paralegal studies. He is also Director
of our Paralegal Studies program.
Bryan is one of our own, in that he received his Bachelor of Arts in
Political Science from IUPUI. He graduated from the IU School of
Law in Indianapolis with a JD. While he was a law student, Bryan published
his student note: "The United Kingdom's New Export Control Act of 2002 and
its Possible Impact on United Kingdom Universities and Academic Freedom: A
Comparison of the United State's Export Control Laws and the United
Kingdom's New Export Control Act", in the UCLA Journal of International
Law and Foreign Affairs. Bryan also worked as a law clerk for various
attorneys prior to becoming a member of our faculty.
Bryan has been a resident of Indianapolis for most of his life, except
for living in northern Italy for three years as a member of the US Air
Force. Prior to teaching he worked in airline operations for many years.
He and his wife Amy have three wonderful children who are all in
elementary school on the south side of Indianapolis, where they live.
