On November 1, 2005, we began a new two-year grant period
with a new National Endowment for the Humanitiies funds challenge a $50,000 challenge!
To keep our technical and support staff it is crucial that
we meet this challenge.
Although
it is well-known, it is important to keep in mind that the
period of federal largess has passed and that university
budgets are being stretched to the limitand this puts
research in the humanities even farther on the back-burner.
The
completion of our work depends on continuing support from
scholars who are interested in Peirce's writings and on
intellectuals and philanthropic-minded citizens who recognize
that a healthy and advanced society cannot afford to lose
the hard-won intellectual achievements of great thinkers
like Charles S. Peirce.
We
have until July 2007 to raise $50,000 for the match.
I
would like to help you meet our new challenge, but would
like more information.
We are about to begin a major effort to raise an endowment
to support the edition and the research center that has
grown out of our work. If you would like to discuss giving
options with the Project Director or with a University Development
Officer, please call the Peirce Edition Project at (317)
